International Student Services (ISS)
International Student Services (ISS) partners with on and off campus stakeholders to assist international students with their I-20 and F-1 visa process. ISS advises students about F-1 visa status, travel, and benefits. We also sponsor programs designed to build connections amongst international students, and between international and domestic students.
Maintaining F-1 Status
Lesley University ISS is required to report F-! enrollment status to the Department of Homeland Security’s Student & Exchange Visitor Information Program within the first 30 days of each fall and spring semester:
Please check in with ISS by emailing iss@lesley.edu
- when you arrive to attend your first semester at Lesley, and no later than the I-20 program start date.
- Register full-time
- 12 in-person credits for undergraduates of which only 3 credits can be on-line.
- 9 in-person credits for graduate students of which only 3 credits can be on-line.
- Keep ISS up-to-date
- Make sure your current address, email address, and phone number is up-to-date and on-file
- Don’t work without prior authorization
- Refer to the information provided with your I-20 and check your email for regular information and workshops on the limited F-1 employment option.
- As an F-1 student, participating in any off-campus experiential learning, internship, practicum, or fieldwork (paid and unpaid) without prior authorization through a Curricular Practical Training (CPT) I-20 is a serious violation of your F-1 status. Failure to abide will jeopardize your legal F-1 status.
- On-campus employment is permitted up to 20 hours per week during the semester and full-time on campus during the school’s vacation periods.
