Licensure Only: Digital Literacy and Computer Science (5-12) 34 credits
This program of study is approved by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education for Initial Teacher License in Digital Literacy/Computer Science (5-12) in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
This program prepares educators (grades 5-12) with the competencies to ignite student curiosity, engagement, and mastery of the skills and concepts of digital literacy and computer science. Emphasis is on developing knowledge, pedagogies, and dispositions necessary to ensure all students equitable, coherent, and culturally responsive access to technology, new literacies, and computational thinking skills. This is accomplished through authentic, real world experiences including coding, robotics, gaming, and making.
Courses required for completion of this non-degree, licensure-only program may be waived based on equivalent previous coursework or past experience. Courses waived will reduce the total number of program credits. Minimum credits required: 18.
Program prerequisites: Bachelor's degree from a regionally-accredited college or university.
