IPHOT 1200 Darkroom Photography
This is an introductory course in film-based 35mm black and white photography and is open to students of all disciplines. The course is designed to provide students with a foundational understanding of the technical, aesthetic, and conceptual aspects of photography as it relates to the visual arts. Beginning with the basic properties of light, this course will cover the manual functions of 35mm cameras; exposing and developing 35mm black and white film; making contact sheets and prints in the black and white darkroom and final presentation. Aesthetic concerns of space, composition, point of view, and the intentions of the artist are addressed in lectures, discussions and class critique.
