CHIST 4900 Advanced History Seminar: How History is Made
This course focuses on the tools and techniques that historians use to study the past. Students will learn about the process of historical inquiry; investigate physical and digital archives and libraries; deepen their understanding of how historians’ interpretations of the past are created, debated, and revised; and analyze the presentation of history in schools, museums, monuments, and other settings. Students will conduct historical research in directed stages and create their own historical project utilizing both primary and secondary sources. The topical focus of the research projects will change each term.
