Add-License Preparation for English as a Second Language
This set of courses prepares candidates to complete coursework in preparation for the pursue the English as a Second License (All grades). Courses prepares students for the necessary work to support multilingual learners in Pk-12 settings. Candidates will apply for the ESL license directly to the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education upon completion of coursework and documentation of a 150 hours in an internship in an appropriate placement. It is the responsibility of the district to document that experience. Lesley University will document that competencies were met through the coursework but will not endorse the license. To apply, students must have an active Initial license or Professional license.
Program of Study
Program prerequisites: Documentation of having earned a minimum of 6 college credits in a language other than English or equivalent must be submitted prior to program completion. For non-native English speakers, English is considered to be the foreign language.
Required Courses (15 credits)
Students in the Middle, High, and Middle/High School M.Ed. programs will take
