IGAME 2800 Sound in Art

This course sets a solid foundation for the understanding of sound as a medium and a historical context for the field of sonic arts. Students will explore sound-art principles and topics while developing a strong toolset for working within the medium through the production of creative projects, utilizing hardware and digital audio workstation software for recording and editing. A variety of topics may be surveyed including acoustics and perception, field recording, soundscapes, audio montage, musique concrète, electronic sound, text and narrative, experimental instruments, graphic notation, experimental music and sound performance.
