Interim Director, Counseling Center

Lesley University - Counseling Center

The Lesley University Counseling Center (LUCC) provides short-term mental health services to support student learning and student success. We offer counseling services that are student-centered, collaborative, holistic, inclusive, and culturally informed. Our understanding of identity and personal development is further informed by environmental, psychological, socio-cultural, spiritual, and other systemic factors impacting society. We strive to provide a confidential and safe space where students can work with a therapist to get the focused professional help they need to benefit them personally and academically.

To support the greatest number of students, LUCC staff offer a short-term therapy model of care to students currently enrolled in degree-granting or Threshold programs. These services include consultation, intake assessments, groups, individual counseling, referrals, psycho-educational workshops, and wellness programs to support psychological resilience and wellness. Short-term counseling allows students the opportunity to learn coping skills, to practice emotional regulation, to develop strategies to change, to gain a deeper understanding of self and others, and to incorporate wellness techniques such as mindfulness for self-care.

Our staff is sensitive to issues of culture, ethnicity, gender identity, body image, differences in learning and ability, sexual orientation and spirituality. Counselors help students with a wide range of issues, including but not limited to academic concerns, adjustment to college, anxiety, depression, eating issues, identity issues, family concerns, grief/ loss, relationships, self-esteem, self-harm/ suicidality, substance/alcohol misuse, etc. Students who desire or would benefit from longer- term therapy or specialized therapy (i.e. Dialectical Behavior Therapy, eating disorder treatment, trauma therapy, medication assessment/management, etc.) will be provided referrals to the Riverside Outpatient Center at Cambridge, located in 23 Mellen Street on the Lesley campus.. Students currently on psychiatric medication are encouraged to stay in touch with their current psychiatric prescribers or their local Primary Care Physician, or if preferred, to find a local prescriber on their health insurance.

The office is open daily, Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with some limited evening hours available. Appointments can be made by calling 617.349.8545 or emailing us at counselingcenter@lesley.edu. A student in urgent need of mental health support outside of business hours should call 988 or go to the nearest emergency room.
