International Student Services (ISS)

International Student Services (ISS) provides advice on immigration, and cross-cultural matters, to all international students at Lesley.  ISS advises students about F-1 visa status, travel, and benefits.  We also sponsor programs designed to build connections amongst international students, and between international and domestic students.

Maintaining F-1 Status

Remember these main points of maintaining F-1 status:

Check in with ISS by emailing iss@lesley.edu

  • When you arrive to attend your first semester at Lesley, and no later than the I-20 program start date.
  • Register full-time
    • That’s 12 units for undergraduates or 9 units for graduate students, of which only 3 credits can be on-line.
  • Keep ISS up-to-date
    • We need to have your current address, email address, and phone number on file
  • Don’t work without prior authorization
    • Refer to the information provided with your I-20 and check your email for regular information and workshops on the limited F-1 employment option. All off-campus employment, internships, practicums (paid or unpaid) require prior approval through a new I-20. Failure to abide will jeopardize your legal F-1 status. Contact iss@lesley.edu with questions. On-campus employment is permitted up to 20 hours per week during the semester and full-time on campus during the school’s vacation periods.

If you have any questions or concerns about your status, contact us!
