Full-Time/Half-Time Degree Status
Students are considered to have full-time status if they are formally accepted into a degree, certificate or non-degree program and are registered for a minimum of 9 credits for graduate students, and a minimum of 12 credits for undergraduate students per semester, with the exception of the PhD program students. PhD program student status is determined by course registration and credits billed. Other thresholds of importance to students are:
- Half-time: 3 or more credits for graduate students; 6-8 credits for undergraduate students
- Less than half-time: Less than 3 credits for graduate students; Less than 6 credits for undergraduate students
The class standings for undergraduate students are as follows:
- First-year students at Lesley are those students who have earned fewer than 30 credits that count toward the baccalaureate degree.
- Sophomores must have earned between 30 and 59.5 credits.
- Juniors must have earned between 60 and 89.5 credits.
- Seniors must have earned 90 or more credits.
Massachusetts state law requires all students enrolled at least three-quarter time to have adequate health insurance coverage. Refer to the Tuition, Fees, and Payment section of this catalog for more information.
Half-time status is the standard threshold for eligibility for federal financial aid programs. Refer to the Financial Aid section of this catalog for more information.
